About Us
William Hamilton & Sons (Contractors) Ltd has been in business since 1882 with a horse and cart in those days and is now into its 5th generation of the Hamilton family. Although Haulage was always part of the business, so also was Agricultural Contracting up until 1991 when farming started going through a difficult time, that has got worse and worse! It was then that the company expanded the Haulage business and entered into hiring mechanical Road Sweeping Brushes.
In 1995 we built a custom designed yard, workshop and offices to help us with our ambition to give a bigger and better service to our many customers in the building, construction, farming and local authority industries. This has also helped us to increase our sales figures, fleet size and our staffing levels 8 fold in the last 12 years.
After our move to Dovesdale farm in 1995 we started Recycling the used road works spoils that is brought to our Non Active landfill site here at Dovesdale Farm. It has helped the local authorities to reduce the amount of waste that enters landfills; currently we recycle more than 50 % of all wastes entering our site.
